Discoloration on edge of laptop screen

The screen on my 1st generation MacBook Pro has a brown color on it. It goes all along the entire 4 edges, and is about 1" wide (it resembles a water stain on a sheet of paper). Does this have any known cause? How can it be fixed?

WEIRD!

Do you have an external display available? If so, use the adapter that came with the machine to connect. Does the brown border show up on the external monitor?

If it does not show up, I would think the LCD panel is to blame.

If it does show up on the external display, that would indicate a graphics processor issue (which is unfortunately permanently attached to the logic board).

Please keep us posted!
