Remove red film from back of LCD?

Are you supposed to remove the red film on the back of the iPhone 6 Plus LCD Screen and Digitizer before installation?

It can be seen in the 3rd & 5th pictures on the following page:

iPhone 6 Plus LCD and Digitizer

I purchased a full assembly (iPhone 6 Plus Screen), and this film is still present on the back of the LCD. To remove it, I'll have to detach the shield plate and most of the connections.

It really shouldn't make any difference. When I first started replacing screens I occasionally forgot to take it off and it did no harm. I always remove it now but there is really no difference
