An upgrade of the Nintendo Game Boy Advance, the Advance SP was released, in North America, on March 23 2004 with a square structure and clam-shell design.

If you're turning it on while there's a cartridge in the slot, then it means it's not reading the game, and is acting as if there's nothing inserted (whereas if there's no game inserted, it'll sit at the Game Boy screen since there's nothing to read). Most likely in this case it's just a matter of cleaning the contacts on the Game Boy Advance cartridge, preferably with high-grade rubbing alcohol (I'd recommend nothing lower than 97%).

Have you tried staring it up with only one game, or have you tried a few?

Hi! I’m also having this problem and I’ve tried them on multiple games- should I clean the cartridges as well?

Whooo!!! I bought a Gameboy Adance SP for $20 and I was beginning to think it was defective because it was getting stuck on the Gameboy startup screen. Cleaned the contacts with an alcohol swab, blew in it a bit and voila!

I wonder if anyone can help, my gameboy says Nintendo when a game is interested then shortly after it goes blank. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. All contacts have been cleaned. Thank you

Ahah, I’m even surprised that this console is still alive and that you have it in your hands :)

I don’t want to upset you, but the chance that you can fix it is very low. Because there is pretty old technology and even the master could not fix the screen, so you have two solutions. You can spend a lot of money and buy limited consoles or install an emulator with various games from https://romsie.com/roms/gameboy-advance . It seems to me that the second option is much more reasonable. I tried this method and it works great!
