Left Channel of Headphones not working while using 3.5 Input?

Hello my Ifixit family!

I have a very strange problem with a customers Iphone 6.

The left channel doesn't work while using headphones with the 3.5mm input. I've tried 3 different headsets (all known working) and I've tried replacing the headset flex(charging cable flex) to three different ones.

While using Bluetooth headset both channels are working.

Factory reset did not help.

Any ideas as to what could be wrong? :)

Thanks for all the help!

did you tried with original apple earpods?

I'm going to guess that since you have eliminated the headphones as the issue, and you have eliminated the dock flex as the problem, and the only things left in the circuit are L1801 and the audio codec chip, the problem should be L1801. Microsoldering is required.

@buddhika Mahesh

Yes, I have tried Apples Original earpods which are comfirmed working in other Iphones.

@Josiah

Thanks for the tip, will try to find a schematic of the motherboard to locate L1801 and take a look at it.

Josiah, it's not codec issue as question mentioned that Bluetooth headset was worked fine.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Good point, it can't be the codec. Thanks for pointing that out. L1801 is the filter for the left channel of the headphone jack though. So that is still an option. And of course it's on the back of the board under a shield. (rolls eyes)

@Josiah

Naturally, leave it to Apple..

@Buddhika

FPC connector looks fine, but thanks for the idea.

@Josiah

It's got to be the L1801, I've decided to clean up the phone and send it in to Apple for a refurbished unit, as I do not have the skills to do microsoldering sadly.

Thanks every one for the input, however. =)
