Green lines display in video and freezes frequently.

When video is played, or ichat is used green horizontal lines jump across the screen. Many times when using dashboard or switching to another app, the computer freezes and requires a reboot. This happens 5-10 times a day.

I'm thinking video card. Can you help?

Thanks,

David George

Definitely sounds like a GPU problem. Check your computer to make sure it is not overheating. Overheating will cause the GPU chip soldering to develop fractures. Unfortunately there is no easy fix to this, you will have to get the GPU soldering reflowed or better yet reballed. But you must fix the overheating issues first or the problem will just keep coming back.

I had this problem for a long time. In general smcFanControl software helps. It let's you speed up the fans to a point when the GPU is no longer overheating and the artifacts and freezes no longer happen.
