Remove screw ?

I'm on step 3 of the instructions for installing a new hard drive in my Powerbook G4 15" 1.5-1.67 GHz. One of the 2 12 mm Phillips screws in the memory compartment won't budge. Any suggestions ? Thanks !

Stuck screws are very frustrating!

Don't just torque on it blindly, as stripping the screw will leave you in a very poor state.

Try briefly using a hair dryer on the area to loosen things up (don't point the heat at the logic board for long, though!).

Then, with the CORRECT screwdriver size (#00), push firmly down directly into the screw and, while pushing down, turn the screwdriver.

The downward force ensures maximum drive to screw connection, and minimizes stripping.

I hope this helps!

use a magnetic screwdriver. Make sure you have the right size too.
