Are home buttons from 5S interchangeable with SE?

I watched and read the entire iPhone SE breakdown. They mention several parts' interchangeability but did not cover the home button. Are these parts interchangeable? Can I use a 5S home button in an SE and vice-versa? (Please do not add information concerning their functionality after being switched; I am only concerned about fitment)

Kaye's answer was that the home button was not interchangeable, but the link he/she provided said the opposite. It looks like the home buttons are interchangeable, but as with other Touch ID home buttons, will not provide Touch ID functionality. Only the original home button on a Touch ID device will work 100%, but these will still click and perform the other home button functions.

You can look at the APN printed on the cable, they are exactly the same.

Thanks, Tom. I don't currently have an iPhone SE at my disposal - did you look at part numbers listed on this site or did you compare part numbers in person with actual examples?

Well you can check the teardown pics. On the 5s, the APN is 821-2092-01, while on the SE, it's 821-2092-A. The first seven digits are the same. The difference at the end could indicate different colors or part vendors, but the part itself should be compatible.

According to the link, it does work. Most repair techs know that only the original home button in a Touch ID device can be used for Touch ID - replacement parts only need to have the click functionality, and this does!

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

i‘m sorry, you're right, i mean it still features the click functionality but not the touch id.
