Does home button replacement need new adhesive?

I'm getting ready to replace a broken iPhone 6 screen. The complete screen is due today and I will be removing my original home button, installing it in the new screen. The instructions talk about being careful when removing the home button to make sure it doesn't tear and because it has some adhesive. When I install it in the new screen, will I need to add more adhesive (what kind?) or will there be enough adhesive on the seal to allow it to be locked into the screen frame? Thanks.

That depends on if the adhesive stays on properly on the rubber gasket part for the home button.

If it comes off fine, you can re-use it for the new screen. If not you may need to use new adhesive for the home button rubber gasket then. Adhesive is transparent double sided tape, and it's pretty thin.

You can get this just in case:

I have a spare 5s gasket, is it the same as the 6+ one?

You can use that. I've been using the iPhone 5s series gasket on all 5 series and 6 series phones all fit well enough to stop home button from feeling loose.

There is some adhesive on the back side of the home button flex board, usually it is reusable, just put the button on the new screen then.

For the home button gasket, I do recommend putting a new one on. The torn gasket leaks moisture and dust, reducing home button reliability.
