1.5 Core Solo, 1.66 or 1.83 Core Duo, or 1.83 or 2 GHz Core 2 Duo processor. This covers the first Intel-based Mac Mini models from Early 2006 to Mid 2007.

Which OS should be installed when upgrading from Core Solo to C2D

High! Just the other day I upgraded a Mini 1,5 GHz Core Solo to a 2,2 GHz C2D, running OS X 10.6.8

It worked out perfekt, the machine recognized it and runs well. Step 22. in the tutorial says : 'Note that if you are upgrading from a core solo or core duo processor to a core 2 duo processor and wish to run operating systems of Lion or later, you must delete the hidden file /System/Library/CoreServices/PlatformSupport.plist after the upgrade.'

I ran iVisible & EasyFind, but no such file!? Now Im unbable to install a higher OS version.

Wich OS should be installed, to find this file. Originally it came with 10.4.5. Do I have to go back there?

THX for help, Greetings from Krautland

Your machine should now be able to go to 10.7.5. You may need to download it and do a clean reinstall.

High Mayer! I've already tried to install Lion. But all I get, is the error message: OSX Lion cannot be installed on this computer !?

Try it on a wiped hard drive. I did several of these CPU upgrades but don't remember having this problem. I did have to alter the .plist on an xserve. This answer will be in my old answers. To help search which processor is it (besides Core 2 Duo). sorry not fully awake yet.

High Mayer! THX for your response. That was the next step I took: A clean HDD, freshly formatted, copied an Lion installer to it: no chance! OSX Lion cannot be installed to this computer!?

Please tell me the exact processor you installed. Is it a T7400? What did it come out of? It started with a (T1200) processor.

High Mayer! Its a 2GHz T7200 that i took from a dead 24" 2008 iMac.

Kind regards

Greetings for the day,

Good that you upgraded your Mac Mini to Core 2 Duo Processor,

And now that you updated the hardware

you can install the OS to 10.7.5 LION

You shouldn't have any problem doing it so,

Just make sure you keep the Ram 2 GB or More
