Charger Not Recognized, Battery with Yellow Triangle and Exclamation

My wife's Galaxy S5 G900A stopped charging last night. This morning she plugged it in to a different, known good OEM charger and it didn't recognize the charger, stayed at 2% all day. When I got home from work I turned it off and it shows a gray battery and then a yellow triangle with exclamation point. I swapped the battery with one from my phone (exact same phone) and it is behaving the same, but the battery percentage shows 64% which is what my phone showed. I put her battery into my phone and it showed it was 99% charged. I then put the batteries back into their respective phones and now then her phone showed its battery at 99%. I tried cleaning the charge port with alcohol and a toothbrush, then blown out with compressed air, but no change. I tried looking for tests in the diagnostics menu, but didn't see anything related to battery or charging.

The only thing left to try is to reset the phone. It is already on 5.1.1, which is the latest update available. Any other ideas that might fix this problem? If the reset doesn't fix it then I will try a replacement charge port board.

my sister had the same problem with her mobile , downloaded power sharing app , and it worked , i guess the problem is in the software , so if anyone could try to update or reset there mobile and see if that would work too or not .

Just an idea, try turning it off and removing the sd card and sim card and then try charging, worked for me!

Charger port daughter board would need to be replaced as from what you said sounds like the charger port has gone faulty. Resetting the phone wouldn't help.

Shorting the two pins corresponding to battery + and - on the phone and not the battery has helped for some people. What this does exactly is create a short circuit without the battery connected to drain any components that may be holding charge on the circuit board that could trigger that battery temperature warning message. Also try cleaning both battery connector contacts if that does not help too.

This is for the SM-G900A variant, make sure you get the correct one or else you will run into reception issues with sim card.

You can also solder the antenna connection golden prong point from the charger port assembly if needed and transfer to the new charger port assembly if it's a different model as they connect differently to the antenna module.

I have SAMSUNG P5100 TAB, hard reset (factory reset) help for me. :)

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

*SOLVED*I had red triangle in battery logo when device is off. Device would not charge at all. When i put in charged battery from another device with was getting device over heating, then the phone would power off after couple of minutes.Tried f.reset, different batteries, changed charging port. No luck. But then got another charging port. That done it finally! :)..The first charging port was faulty. Anyone having same problem try it!

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

I had same problem, solution is to take out battery and short the positive and negative connection on phone... if you look on battery it shows you which pins is + and which is - Short the corresponding pins on the phone not on the battery... I used a paper clip, anything conductive will work. Worked immediately and is charging like normal now.

removing the battery, blowing out the battery receptacle, then pushing in the connectors a few times to test the spring level to make sure there was constant contact from battery to pins. my phone is now charging. just seemed to be a dirty port or intermittent connectivity. I looked at the other suggestions and they all seemed too expensive, or too risky. I tried yours, and it worked like a charm. The phone is 3 years old now, I guess it's time to upgrade. :-(

2 of my spare batteries are showing the grey battery outline, with a yellow triangle and then a small battery with a line through it, when I try to charge.

Both of those batteries were immersed in seawater for about 3 minutes, but dried out naturally inside the hiking pack pockets, until I got to the camp 4 hours later. I'd forgotten they were in the waist belt.

After scratching back the corrosion and cleaning the little connections on the battery and making sure it's in firmly, I've been able to successfully revive both of the batteries.

I also discovered that when one of the batteries moved, the icon popped up again. From this, I think the icon means that the connections are not all completely touching. This may not be helpful for Joe, but hopefully it will be for someone else.

Good luck Joe. :)

No, these are both G900A phones purchased at the same time so they have the exact same chargers. Besides that, we have interchanged them regularly in the past. The problem is definitely in the phone.

Try a different charger. Just because you have another Samsung charger doesn't mean that it is compatible. All of the phones at my house are Samsung (four different models) and some of them are not compatible with some of the other Samsung chargers. Also, if you haven't tried it already, try a different cable in the power block. It may just be an issue with the cable it's self.

What Samsung products do you have? If some are tablet and some are phone then some tablets will only accept original cable and wall charger.
