My drill charges but does not indicated charge status?

Last week, I plugged my drill in to charge over night. I noticed that when I plugged it in, the charging light did not come on. I went ahead and left it on the charge and the next day the drill seemed to be fully charged. Is it possible that the LED went bad on my battery? I have only had the drill for a little while.
