I searched for a solution online for you to allow the keyboard ribbon cable to remain connected to keyboard connector on the motherboard and found: How to fix Laptop Keyboard ribbon cable on Youtube. You can watch upto 4:40, which pertains to the connector itself.
If you can post an image of the connector, I'll see if I can find a better solution as well.
