What is causing my screen to be unresponsive?

My iPhone 6 plus screen becomes unresponsive to my touch when i try to use it. There is a white/gray bar going across just the top of my phone horizontally not vertically. I opened my phone up and reapplied the connections on the board. This seems to help the issue for about an hour but then the phone becomes unresponsive again. The phones tends to be unresponsive when the white/gray bar shows up at the top of screen.

In order to temporarily fix the issue I put force on the top end kind of bending it in the center or also pinching the screen by the ear piece helps the screen become responsive. If anyone has any recommendations on how to resolve this issue please let me know. This issue is becoming more of a burden then anything. Thank you in advance and I hope to hear some advice soon.

Went to Apple last night with my iPhone 6 Plus that was doing the same thing. It was the Logic Board that was causing the problem. Since I was out of warranty they would replace the phone for $329. Or I could do the apple upgrade program to get the iPhone 6s Plus

I am having the exact same issue with my phone and I am also out of warranty. Just curious, but what size iPhone 6 plus do you have? (64 or 128) Thanks!!

maybe caused by not enough storage, the same with my 16GB iPhone 5S.

sounds like you need a new display assembly. If you're going to put a new one on. You may want to buy a quality part. Third party parts will usually give you third party problems

The tech who replaced your screen broken it again.

There is no other option if you have grey line in your screen.

Incorrect

The issue is the Meson chip (touch ic of the logic board u2402 is the chip in question that causes they grey glitches paired with unresponsiveness). The issue is a factory defect, oxidation in the solder underneath the chip where its bonded to the board.Mail in repair through 3rd party runs 100-200 usd depending on where you look.Sad but true :/

Well would you look at that! There's finally someone that knows what they're talking about!

@vegetabarrett

Bro, did you realize how your answer are totally a non-sense stating “chips broken, that factory defect”.

You need to be drunk af buying brand new iPhone out of the box and day 1, asking amateur repair dude on a forum why he have grey line.

I have personally narrowed this problem down to the Broadcom Touch IC chip. I'm thinking when technicians go to plug that long connector in they tend to not have it aligned properly and short it out somehow causing the grey bar and random touch loss.

Your options here are the following:

1. Restore the phone to OEM condition with a broken screen or not and take it into Apple playing dumb so they will replace it.

2. Send the device to a specialist who can replace the chip for you...as low as $30-$40 on eBay.

3. Order the chip and do it yourself if you are capable.

Its the touch ic chip on the logic board

But you can try and remove the lcd shield in case its puting uneven pressure on the connection as i read from another awesome poster on here THAT WORKED FOR ME SO THANKS WHOEVER YOU ARE IF YOU EVER READ THIS <3

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Yes!! Thats it! I removed the bracket covering the cables on the motherboard, and the screen is super responsive again!

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Excellent man that's awesome.

Also in reference to the earlier question on here to Krzysztof P. No need to unplug the display to get the screen temporarily responsive again just unplug the battery, that's what's fixing it temporarily not unplugging the display.Trust me,try it you will see. There is only so much life on the connectors don't waste it or you'll have an even bigger problem as of right now the price for this repair is less than buying a screen at 40-80$ you can mail the board in for permanent fix.

Yah thats a well known defect affecting a lot of iPhone 6/6+. It is a defect of the one of the two touch ic chips on the logicboard. It can be solved by replacing the touch ic on the board as a board-level repair. Finding someone local in your local area to do micro-bga chip replacement on the board can be a little bit difficult.

One solution which work with me is putting the SIM card above the cables and then put the shield as in this video
