Hi,
1.Try updating your Play Store app (open app, tap settings, scroll down to about, tap to enter, if there is an update option tap it and allow it to update. try to download app.
2. This is just a guess. Go to your Google account and check your listed devices. Maybe your 'new' tablet needs to be 'registered on your account. As I said just a guess and maybe not relevant but I know when I installed a custom ROM on one of my tablets Google Play didn't work because it wasn't listed in my account. The 'original' still was though. Although I can understand a firmware change affects things more than a touchscreen change
