Flickering screen MacBook Pro when moving screen

I have some problems with the screen of my laptop MacBook Pro 13inch from late 2011. I never had problems with my screen before but suddenly the screen began to flicker. I have encountered that it starts flickering more when my laptop is running more intensive programs whereby it is warmer than usually. When I play with the adjustments of the screen, or tap the screen the flikkering comes and goes.

I do not know if it is some wire inside that is half broken so that the connection is bad or if my GPU or logic board is broken. I know that the MacBook Pro's made in 2011 had some problems with the motherboard but this was only the case for the 15 inch laptops. I also made a video to make it more clear. You can see on the video that when I tap on the part where the wires are going from the laptop to the screen, that the screen starts flickering.

Many laptop manufacturers run the LCD cable through the hinges. The fit is usually snug, and over time the cable will pull on the connector which attaches at the mother board. Take the bottom off and look for a braided black cable that connects to the Mother Board. Make sure that the cable is not frayed, and can snap tightly into the motherboard. If it is snug then your cable has pulled lose from the screen and ou will need to take it in for service. The reason it flickers when you rock it back and forth is because the cable becomes tighter when you lean the screen in the backwards position. Opening a screen by using the center of the cover rather then a corner will greatly reduce the wear and tear on the hinges.

Thank you for the explination. Is it possible to replace the cable by myself? I think that apple will charge me too much for the reparation.

Claudiu you can contact Apple and order the part. You will need the appropriate iFixit screw driver to remove the back cover. It is a very simple replacement. You just have to have faith in your own ability.

Hey claudiu were you able to fix your screen? I'm having the same problem with the same exact MacBook Pro model. Are there any other solutions that you think might help?

I just got the same problem too! So many years with this laptop and suddenly the screen starts to give me problems. It does the same flickering, then sometimes the screen just goes dark, not black though you can still see that it's on just no screen. Then it randomly works for a while then it doesn't. Could it maybe have something to do with Sierra I wonder? And have you guys fixed it? What was it? I was thinking of ordering a new logic board on this website I don't want to go to the Apple Store because more than likely I will just buy a new one.

Sound like the lcd cable that connects from the lcd to the logic board is failing. Have the cable inspected asap.

If I replace the lcd (and the cable by my self), would this fix the problem? And is it possible to replace only the cable?
