I replaced cracked screen but I think the LCD is damaged

A friend borrowed my tablet and returned it with a cracked screen. I ordered a replacement screen and installed it, but when I powered up it looks like the lcd under the screen is damaged? I feel confident that I can replace that as well, but am not sure what to order as far as replacement parts. If i ordered a screen/digitizer would that correct this? Btw, the touch function works still. I just need to know what to order especially if it's like "lcd" something because all I usually see are screens and digitizers
