Apple appears then nothing

Went to reboot my iPad, the Apple appears and then nothing, no start screen, nothing...what is wrong? Is this fixable or should I forget it???

Sounds like it's just not charged. Try a different cable, charger etc and make sure the port isn't full of gunk.
