Why does my charger or device get hotter when charging?
When the device is plugged into the charger for a normal charging cycle, either the device or the charging adapter gets significantly hotter.

There is a malfunction with either the charging station, or the battery could have malfunctioned. Try using another charger to see if the same problem occurs. If the problem is keeps happening, change the battery in the device.

I have this problem too on my MBPmid 2009. In fact the connecting point gets so hot, it scalds the skin to touch. Turns out the charger is faulty. And continuing to use a faulty charger may have damaged the power board in the MBP too. 1> Use a different original charger to see if problem persists. 2> test on a different machine to see if problem persists.
