How come my computer is always really hot?

The computer gets hot a few minutes after turning on and I think it might be overheating. It has shut down after extended use.

Your airflow vents may be covered with dust or something else blocking the computer from cooling down properly. You can use compressed air to remove dust from vents and fans. The problem may also be stemming from where the computer is mainly used. Click this link for more help: HP EliteOne 800 G1 Troubleshooting

Just a tip, if you don't want to spend a ton on compressed air, you can use an air compressor(do this carefully) or an air mattress pump. other than that, you would need to remove a little bit of casing and dust off the fans with a toothbrush, other than that...

it usually due to overpowering your pc, such as playing or doing something your pc can’t handle or the position in your house or office you have placed for an example I use to sleep in a basement and it was cold there so my pc was always cool and when it would get hot because I would overpower it quickly got cooled because of the place I was, then I moved up stairs to the main level and, now my pc is warm all the time, due to the environment i was in

I would also replace the thermal grease. Overheating is probably the combo of dry thermal paste and a dirty heatsink. Air cooling isn’t possible if the heat is not being transferred to the heatsink. I would suggest MX5 paste:
