Update.. restored this ipad multiple times and set it up as a new ipad but still no luck. I own a device repair shop so knew about the greyed out wifi switch issue that plagues some of the iphone 4s and know how to fix that so tried the same fix but no luck. Contacted apple support on a chat forum as the ipad is 6 months out of warranty and they wanted €330 to carry out an out of warranty repair but as soon as i mentioned that this has all the same symptoms as the 4s issue they set up a call-back from someone from the senior team that aggreed to repair/replace the ipad for free.. happy days

I'm having the same issue, was using it at the time and all of the sudden it coudn't connect to the server. I've tried everything including a restore to factory and nothing. have you figured out a solution?

I have a iPad Air 2 and same thing happened. I went into the genius bar and they refused to replace or fix the issue because it was out of warranty. They also suggested me to trade-in the iPad for a new one plus pay a couple hundred bucks! ( wtf? ) My iPad Air 2 64gb worked flawlessly before the updating to 9.3.5.

I believe you can turn off 'find my iphone' directly through the ipad: settings --> icloud --> near the bottom it'll be a slider to turn on or off find my iphone. Or at least that's the way it is in my iphone 5c

You need a wifi or data access to turn off 'find my iPhone ' and because it's a wifi only iPad and the Bluetooth doesn't work either, I put it into dfu mode and restored it that way. It seems to a hardware issue because even after the restore its the same..

Because it happened during an update i convinced apple to replace the ipad.. even though it was out of warranty.
