My Nexus 6 battery will not charge

Hey, so I performed a glass-only repair on my Nexus 6 (I run small repair business). All went well, the display looks/ works fantastic and everything works fine except the battery.

Nothing seems to have been damaged, but the battery will no longer take a charge. I've tried the Moto turbo charger, PC USB, Samsung chargers, all the same issue.

The device will absolutely happily work while plugged in...it just won't charge the battery. The battery just 'flat-lines' no charge / no depletion. The charging bolt shows on the icon, but status shows 'Not charging'.

I successfully flashed the latest Android 6 via USB cable. I have wiped and formatted everything. I did notice that it was charging (went from 10% up to 34%) while booted into TWRP custom recovery whilst doing a backup - but since I restored stock > updated Android 6 > flashed latest TWRP it no longer charges even in TWRP recovery.

I have let the battery deplete and automatically power off, then left on charge for a few hours but it still won't take a charge. The device boots up with 1% and will just happily work forever on 1% while plugged in.

Any ideas?

I have been using Motorola Nexus 6. Now it Shows some problem like while charging mobile it shows charging where as in real the battery does not charges at all. I ever replaced charging jack & battery with new one but problem still persist. you are help me resolve the problem.

I have resolved the issue. Strangely the power flex (the bit that connects to the motherboard - NOT the second flex that connects tp volume rocker) had a kink in it and was causing the volume down button to not work.

Replacing this flex solved the problem,. Not entirely sure why this affected charging...

I have exactly the same issue after replacing the screen. Phone is happy at 1% charge and plugged. it won't either charge nor deplete. I have tried the volume down button and it works just fine....Can you please give me a litle more details on the repair you performed?

seconds before I threw away my Nexus 6 I read your answer and started clocking the down volume key violently. Minutes later my phone was charging again... Thank you ! !!

The battery issue with Nexus 6 is that after a period of time, the battery becomes damaged due to overheating. I took my Nexus 6 apart and the Lithium Ion shell had become deformed and the phone would cut out randomly in use and every-time when the battery got to 34%. I ordered a replacement battery for approx 15 USD and fitted it myself. I now have no battery issues and the phone is stable again i.e. hasn't crashed once.

I have the same issue after the phone has been watered.

Service Center reported that there is a short circuit in the power supply controller, it was replaced by a new, the power was normolized after this, but the phone will not turn on. What could be the problem? Do you have phone scheme?

If your phone is on and remaining at a constant battery level when plugged in (not charging but simply maintaining a charge level)... YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE RIBBON CABLE BETWEEN THE ON/OFF SWITCH CABLE AND THE MOTHERBOARD, as stated above..

It is available on ebay. Be gentle because the motherboard side connection to the ribbon cable is a weak point. There is a black rubber tab holding the cable down where it connecta to the motherboard. On the other end the ribbon cable connects to the ppwer and volume rocker cable.

If you have this no charge issue, you likely have a power or volume button problem too because these buttons connect to the motherboard via the damaged ribbon cable.

I just recently replaced that ribbon cable today with a brand new one because I damaged my old one. It was charging just fine earlier this morning and now it will not charge at all.

Where do I get a new ribbon cable? My phone is doing the same. I was trying to replace the battery on my own and watched the wrong youtube video and they had me disconnect it (which I shouldnt have had to do) now it hasnt been right since. AND I still didnt get to put the new battery in because half the screws I need to remove are stripped.

I have the same problem.. My phone fell today broke its glass screen the touch and th LCD is all fine but the side buttons aint wrking! And now when i connect it to charger it says 5% n wrks at 5% only! Since an hour it is the same need some help pls reply!

I got similar problem, my Nexus 6 fell in water, I kept it in rice for 3 days, now the phone turn on and work perfectly fine, it just don't charge. Touch screen or everything works fine except the charging, I tried the Qi charging and that doesn't work either. I thought maybe the battery is gone and therefore tried changing the battery, but still it doesn't charge. Any help is appreciated.
