Monitor turns black after a few minutes

This Samsung Syncmaster 940NW monitor works fine except for the fact that it turns black after a few minutes. A few minutes means: 5, 10, 15, 20 or whatever minutes it likes to stay on. What could be the cause for this blackout?

did you do a backlight test? is there any video?

Any problem associated with a time to react must have a heat component. Any component can do that, so starting with the easiest to test is the way to go.

Black screen - backlight test. then capacitors, then voltage checks, then it gets difficult and becomes a board swap process.

John Van Dael check your power supply for bad capacitors. It sounds like you are losing either your backlight or total power.

Checked electronics. No bad capacitors.

If the capacitors are the course of the problem, would the screen go back to normal within 5-10 minutes. Or is it more likely the screen stays black.

I am using this monitor (Samsung Sync Master 940NW) for more than one year. Since a month the screen stays black after switching on my pc. I am using two monitors, so I am able to work, but some frames start at the SyncMaster and so I am not able to continue. The issue takes 5-10 minutes.
The manual can be found here:

This manual suggests a relation with the power setting:

by switching your monitor into a low-power mode when it has not been used for a certain amount of

time. The monitor automatically returns to normal operation when you press a key on the keyboard. For

energy conservation, turn your monitor OFF when it is not needed, or when leaving it unattended for

long periods. The PowerSaver system operates with a VESA DPMS compliant video card installed in

I changed some settings without any result.

My temporally work around was changing to one monitor and extend it later on when the SyncMaster is working normally.
