Roy Perham, I'd stay away from CLR. It is extremely difficult to remove the CLR taste and smell from your brewer after. I'd suggest to stick with a vinegar/water mix. You did not tell us if you tried to clear the descale message by disconnecting the power plug from the wall outlet for at least 15 minutes, then re-plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
