Fast forward stopped working

iPod Classic 160GB: The fast forward stopped working, is it a click wheel problem or logic board? There is no visible damage to the outside, it still seems to click down like it should. Rewind does still work, as well as menu, stop/play and middle button.

Alan, it is possible that it is your click wheel, or the microswitch itself. You can use a multimeter to check the switches. The images should show you how to check. If the switch is not working, it will be difficult to obtain a replacement. You could A. try and get a used non-functioning logic board and harvest a switch from that or B. you can replace the logic board. Both choice would be considerably less expensive than a new iPod.

the button went out because of wear and tear. you can order another one to replace it or another ipod all together. they run about the same price.

What broke exactly? it feels the same. Is it the inexpensive button or the expensive logic board?
