My GoPro got wet

Hi. I was surfing and after a wipeout my GoPro case got broken and consequently my GoPro Hero 3 got wet (salt water).

I tried to let it dry but after this incident, the camera doesn't turn on anymore and now only blink a red light on the back of the camera.

Nothing else happens.

When I let it charging for around 30 minutes, the GoPro display shows "GoPro" but nothing else happens.

Do you guys think that could it be a solution for that? I really don't know if it is, but.. well.. let's try to ask ;)

I'm experiencing the same issue. But, I did NOT wipe out and I have been incredibly careful with the housing and camera. The is the second GoPro to have issues. I think it's time to give up!!

Hi,

So the bad news is salt water is electronics' worst enemy. With that being said, the device still shows sign of life which is good. What you can do is follow the ifixit teardown guide to take out the logic board. After you take it out put it in something that has greater than 70% alcohol and scrub it with a toothbrush. dry it with a hair dryer or just leaving it out to dry for a few hours and try to reassemble it. If the water damage was minor, it should work.
