Help!My 3Ds shuts off when I flip the top screen

Everytime my son turns on his 3Ds and begins to play it will shut off if he pushes the top display screen all the way back where it is fully open. Is there away to repair this?? And how hard is it to repair?? Thanks for any help you can give.
