No Power or light on magsafe charger. Tried new charger, still no.

I can't get my early 2009 MBP 17" to wake up. I need the data. Tried the new charger, still no indicator light. I got nothing. Right now I went out and got a new MBP 13", and I am fairly recently backup up to a Time Machine from the old MBP. Won't have internet until the 9th of July (today is the 6th) so I can't do a restore to the new computer. (I am using a personal hotspot from my iPhone, but data is going to run out soon). Please can someone give me some ideas?
