iPhone 5s battery drains

Block Image

Some ic from the logic board are missing right next to the dock connector cable and the iPhone easily heats up and drains very quickly even in sleep mode. Am wondering if it's the U2 ic or the ic's that are broken off is causing the problem. And when the battery is fully drained the battery doesn't charge. and mic also doesn't work

Can you provide us with a picture of the missing IC ? And yes it CAN be a u2 related issue. But we need more information to determine that.

Ok going to take a picture of it and upload them. In a bit

I even carried the device to a phone repair shop to replace the U2 ic for the battery drain problem, and he send it back saying the U2 may not be the problem. He says he only changes them when the device doesn't charge at all

A quick look at the pictures and the schematics show the components missing are part of the primary mic and hphone. I would definitely start with a detailed visual inspection of the board for other missing components

There's is no other missing component on the logic board. The phone is currently working but full stand by is around 15 hours and when the phone is sleeping the instant amperage is 95 the least compared to a working iPhone it should be around 5 and the device heats up easily. But the mic and home button doesn't work use activator to get around the phone. I taught it was a U2 problem cause the battery drain because I would like to fix the home button only if it's cause the battery drain. And other theory when the battery is brick dead the device doesn't charge, only when the device can power with the battery first. And we'll as plug in the wall adapter without the battery does nothing

Most likely U2 chip needs to be replaced, all the signs are there! Get that hot air station out and have some fun! :)

Ok I'll bring it to the repair shop that can replace it

Good idea def not an easy DIY project :)

The u2ic is located on the rear of the board under a shield if you are referring to a tiny component near the dock connector it's more than likely a resistor or capacitor... A picture is worth a thousand words

If you're going to chase this far enough down the rabbit hole to replace an IC, I'd definitely start by replacing the known damage on those components you showed us in the picture. Get a parts board and just pick them off and place them on with heat. If the problem persists then I might start chasing after an IC, but that wouldn't be where I started for sure.

Okk. Going to bring to a repair shop where it could be done because I don't have the equipment

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Sorted out ic's infront dock connector. Which fixed mic and home button. But battery still drain so am wondering if the U2 is the culprit
