iPod Classic 6th Generation. Model A1238 / 80, 120, or 160 GB hard drive / black or silver metal front

160GB iPod classic not holding charge

Hello. I successfully replaced the battery on my 160GB iPod classic but it still won't hold a charge.

Things I've tried:

- replacing the battery

- resetting the iPod (holding down menu and center button)

-reconnecting the battery cable to the back of the iPod

The odd part is, is it indicates that it is charging (shows the graphic charging screen) but as soon as I disconnect it from the charger it gives the no battery notification and turns off. Help?

Try another new battery. Make sure that the ribbon cable is properly seated. This model has issues with the battery connector on the logic board. Make sure that it is still properly attached to the logic boar.

You're not the first to wonder about this.

Is there a way to distinguish "thick" and "thin" by model #?
