What is this component and how do I remove it?

I have Samsung Note 4 that has water related damage, which has resulted in distorted audio from the loudspeaker, the ear speaker and headphones. I used the very help full guides from iFixit and disassembled the phone and cleaned off all the corrosion that I can see. (There was quite a bit) My sound problem may have gotten a little better after my cleaning, but it definitely isn't fixed.

I found this diagram <http://www.techinsights.com/uploadedImag...> that shows the audio amplifier in this location. But it appears to be protect and covered by a cage.

What is this covering called? Can it be simply soldered off?

UPDATE:

I was about to solder it off and then I realized it pops off. I still don't understand its purpose. Maybe electrical shielding or physical protection?

Shawn Murphy those are EM shields. They protect your cellphone from interference from its own EM fields
