Hi

Came to power on my surface today and the power button no longer clicks meaning I can't power it on, would it be possible replace the button?

Thanks

Sorry, I never updated this with the solution that I came up with.

I was never able to get a replacement power button, so I removed the button entirely and there is a direct line of sight from the old power button hole to the ribbon connector on the motherboard. So you can short it with a screwdriver to mimic the button press.

Worked for 2 years starting it every day with a screwdriver across the pins!

Hopefully that helps somebody out.

Power button assemblies are available on ebay, but to fix it- you need to completely remove the screen/digitizer- not an easy task and not recommended unless the screen is already broken and needing replacement anyway.

Could someone be more precise as to the model number for the Power button assembly for the Surface Pro 2? I’m having trouble finding it on eBay. Hopefully they’re still available these several years later.

to whoever reads this, I have just discovered that my surface pro2 also has the same issue and the only way I can get it to startup is to hold both buttons and do a hard reboot. I am going to try and put my pro into sleep mode instead of switching off completely and see if I can overcome this problem. I can easily guess that taking it to BestBuy/ Currys uk that it would be too costly. I might have to do a trade in as the self fix option is not suitable or might not work even afterwards. Sorry I could not come up with a better answer.

Having left my surface pro in sleep mode and gone back to it several times, I have been able to either click the mouse or tap the cover to activate it. Hopefully this will allow me to use it without buying another one.
