Repair guides for the Motorola Moto G. A series of Android Smartphones manufactured by Motorola Mobility since 2013.

Only backlight after screen replacement?

I work in a cellphone repair store. I have been repairing Moto G screen with no issues as they are really easy. But I was changing one of the customer's screen today and the phone will turn on and makes boot up sound and the notification led blinks too but, I can't see anything except there is just LCD back light. I have compared the motherboard with a picture online in case I damaged tiny I.C components but everything looks fine.

Any help would be really appreciated,

Thanks.

Hi! I replaced my screen as well a while ago and had the same problem. Turned out i forgot to flip back the little switch located at the part where the screen connection plugs into the rest of the phone. Hope that helps!

The flex connector probably got folded during installation causing it to crack slightly leading to break in circuit.

I think you need to replace it again if nothing else works.

Did you come up with a solution ?

Try to hold the power button for 120 seconds while it is connected to a charger. (Yes, two minutes.) I am not sure if it wipes all your files, I remember it doesn't.

Have the same problem. Not flex cable as I have tried two different screens and have the same problem with both. Phone is powered up and running but at first had the blinking white light which I understand to be the dead battery light. It worked fine the first teardown then once a new screen went in neither of them worked. What else ?

The battery overheated in my moto 5G causing the screen to separate from the bottom right corner of the frame. I took it to a repair store. The guy said it just needs a new battery and the screen doesn't appear to be damaged, he could reattach it in minutes. Four hours later, he said the battery he put in wasn't charging and the side buttons on the phone don't work.

I said that was strange because the buttons worked when I brought the phone in and I could see the screen. Now I can't see the screen unless I'm in a dark room. He wouldn't fix the problem. So I left with a phone that was worse than when I went to the repair shop. So I went to another repair shop this weekend and they said the last Tech damaged the backlighting chip to the screen. That the whole screen needs to be replaced and that was at a price of $159. Needless to say I don't have that kind of money to put out for a screen. Is there a cheaper solution or am I just screwed?
