Nintendo's upgraded version of the Nintendo 3DS. It features bigger screens, longer battery life, better pixel density, and a better design.

Why is my 3DS crashing when I use the outer cameras?

The problem I'm having is a very strange one. Whenever I try using the outer cameras I get the following message:

"An error ocurred. Hold down the POWER Button to turn off the power, then turn it on and try again."

It also suggest to go to Nintendo's support website, where the only recommendation is to ship it abroad for a repair (I live in Latin America)

At first I thought it could be a software problem, but updating the device changed nothing. The device has taken a bit of a beating so I'm thinking maybe the camera connector got loose. However, I'd like to know if this has happened to anyone else before doing anything.

Thanks for helping

I have this problem too. Face raiders is still "playable", but the camera is warped and stretched around into a windows desktop portrait. Before I had the problem, I saw these "bubbles" IN the camera lens, the front camera looked like it was shattered. The next day it cleared up. Calibrating the 3DS camera won't help.

IIRC this could be the actual camera module broken; if it doesn't correctly report to the 3DS it panics, like Wii with BT/WiFi or similar.

I aldo have this problem. But for me it happened after a drop in the toilet. I will investigate the camera connections to see if that is the problem.

Might be your camera ribbon cable getting unplugged over time or your camera failing. You could try to re-insert the cable. Replacing the camera is very difficult, so only do that if you are out of warranty and don't have enough money to send it to nintendo
