What is the maximum amount of RAM my computer can take?

I have 2 RAM slots and 1 doesn't work. I installed a 1 GB RAM card in the good slot. Can I increase the RAM in that one good slot? If so, what's the max?

It's rated for 2 GB, but will it take a 2 GB in one slot? I don't know, but probably not. I would wait till Monday and contact a RAM provider like RAM Direct. 408-986-8056 Ask before you buy!

2 GB is the maximum for Aluminum PowerBooks, 1 GB stick in each slot, not more. However, some models with a damaged slot can take an 512 MB stick for a 1.5 GB total amount RAM.

Update

I had a 1Ghz PowerBook, but the lower slot only take up to 512 MB stick, the other one was perfect. If I put the 1gb in to the lower slot the machine only use 512 mb...
