Upgrading internals to more recent MacBook model

My mid 2012 rMBP has a faulty logic board following water damage (Apple genius took apart and confirmed the damaged parts) .

Since I need to replace that anyway, is it possible for me to upgrade the logic board, gpu etc to that of a more recent model (say 2014?) since the screen, battery and case for the models are the same

Please give us the last four figures of your serial number so we know your exact machine. It's located on the back in very fine print.

No - generally you can not cross model years for most case parts while the late '13 and mid '14 are compatible no other year fits your case. (see the compatibility link upper right of catalogue page).

The best you can do is put a 2.7GHz i7 in it.
