wont power up with battery installed

the battery was replaced & the problem is not resolved. It will start without a battery installed. My thought it's the motherboard.

Sometimes new batteries fail right out of the box (especially cheap Chinese knockoffs).

The new battery should be charged over night before using.

Either of the above is a reasonable explanation for what may be happening.
