Galaxy S5 antenna will not turn on, solution?
While on vacation in Mexico, the wifi on my wife's Samsung Galaxy S5 stopped working. The phone was essentially left in the room (no beach or pool exposure). When I go to turn on the wifi antenna, it just says "turning on", however never does.
I checked the advanced settings to make sure the phone sleep function or other settings weren't preventing it from turning on.
I did a factory reset, which also did not fix the problem. Despite no history of water damage, I placed it in a bag of dry rice for a few days, which also did not help. There is no visible external damage to the phone either. Fortunately, the cellular functions (3g and LTE) still work. However, I would consider wifi a necessary function. Unfortunately we do not have insurance on her phone, so I would really like to fix this problem.
I cannot find reports on similar problems online with this phone. Since a factory reset did not fix the problem, I am inclined to think that this is a physical problem rather than firmware or software. The only wifi related part I have found is the signal flex cable. However, I am not sure this is the culprit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The phone is still covered under warranty, right?

Just a follow up for those who may have a similar problem.
I took it to the Sprint store. A technician looked at it. They again wiped it and reinstalled the operating system. This did not fix the problem. I was told that the wifi antenna not turning on is a known issue with the S5. They are giving me a replacement free of charge (I suspect courtesy of Samsung).
