Problems installing a new HD

I have a late 2009 15" MBP.

My original HD crapped out and I replaced it with a Hitachi Travelstar 750gb / 7200 RPM.

Using Snow Leopard install disc I had troubles formatting the new HD and could install 10.6 when HD was internal.

As a USB HD, I was able to format HD using another MBP, but when I reinstalled the HD in the 2009 MBP, the Snow Leopard install would quit after a few minutes.

However when the HD was hooked up externally to the 2009, the Snow Leopard installed no problem.

Computer performs using new HD externally. Should I expect problems if I install internally.

Can you give us the last four digits of your serial number so we can verify your system. Also can you give us the exact make & model of your HD you are trying to install.

Probably the HD cable... have a spare on hand when you install the new HD.

FWIW You don't have to completely replace all the reassembly screws. Be careful (starting on a hard surface) to test and see if it will boot. If it doesn't you can swap the HD cable without a lot of extra time and work.

If this answer is acceptable please remember to return and mark it accepted.
