Why is my xbox one overheating?

I have followed all the steps given to me to ensure it stops over heating but none of which have seemed to work. My xbox one worked the first day I got it and I played it for a couple of hours straight, but the next day it has stopped working. I have moved it to a well ventilated spot and made sure all power cords were properly enabled. I have given it 24 hours to rest / cool down, but it only took 5 minutes for it to over heat again. The power supply cord/ box doesn't feel hot but the xbox one does. Please help me I'm getting really frustrated

Your fan could be bad. If you're still under warranty, I'd file a claim and get Microsoft to do it. If not, this may help: Xbox One Fan Replacement

Buy a ps4. Half the size and runs at 1080. Can't believe xbox one overheats when it's games are limited to 720-912p resolutions

My x box one is brand new and it overheats 5 minutes after I start to use it. I have moved it away from windows and the sun and still overheats. I was wondering if it would be possible if I could remove the grate that is on top on the right side so it could get air instead of the grates that have small holes in them that allow for no air to enter or escape? Thanks for the help. Bye for now.
