Samsung's 5th-generation Android-based Galaxy smartphone was released April 11, 2014. Improvements to the phone include a fingerprint scanner, updated camera, larger display, and water resistance. It is available in four different colors; black, blue, white, and copper.

Soft button cable torn during digitizer replacement, options?

I was taking the screen assembly off of an S5. Well, the warning in the guide was right:

"These cables are thin and easily damaged, therefore be certain you are only peeling them off the display assembly and not lacerating them."

Since the entire front of the device was thoroughly shattered, I was pulling individual shards of glass from the strip of adhesive. In the process of doing that for the left soft button, it tore off. I can't seem to find any replacement parts for that, and I'm wondering if the device has any chance of functioning without it. I certainly don't mind just switching to screen soft buttons, but if there's a chance to replace the part I'd like to go for that.

The soft keys comes together with the whole charging flex just like that http://www.witrigs.com/oem-charging-port... , so if you want to replace, you need to replace the whole assembly.

Attention: You should notice the version of you S5 very much, because the charging port assembly are different among different versions.

Hi,

I have the same problem.. my phone screen went off when i dropped it on the floor.. so i had to replace it.. the technician said.. so thats what i did!.. later when i had my phone back "fixed" the soft left button stopped working.

Is there maybe another way to utilise it from settings menu? Or how to access the task manager without using the left soft button?
