the others have already answered your main question, that 10.4.11 is the latest OS that will run on your Powerbook G3

- but I just wanted to comment that I got many years of good use out of my Pismo, even though it needed a few repairs along the way it is still working (now almost 10yrs old!). In fact, I used it temporarily as my main home computer last month while my iMac was in for warranty repairs.

my point is that if your Pismo hardware is still in working shape, install OS X 10.4.11 on it and you can keep using it for many things. it's a bit slow by today's standards but otherwise I think it's a great machine.

An update disk can be a solution for the root situation?. No Iam using the powerbook only via fireware, for see it and ethernet for transfering and contacting. I think is thanks to the apple share program and using the terminal as I do. Some of the caracteristics of one, like the firmware, are in the other and this is so good, in my opinion. But is posible to install an update of this drives from another computer? The fact is that now I can´t use the computer with every programs, and of course "root" maybe there is a developer solution that I ignore In the bin or sbin store (something related with standalone archives to regenerate the power start up. But the cuestion of the light, I think it depens of the electric system, I realy don´t know. Thanks! and of course if I kmow some thing, I wil let you know.

Hello Thires also an update disk that you can perchase on ebay for about $9.00 bucks to help get your internal drives up to date before you update. You can even find the the 10.4.11 softweare you need for the Apple Pismo laptop that you have but be prepaird to spend some cash. I have seen the bid as high as $149.00 If anyone Knows where to get it for less please let me Know at -Rosario1649@yahoo.com
