Amazon's second generation e-reader with a 6'' e-ink display, five-way controller, and QWERTY keyboard.

Overlapping images and unusable.

After the device fell almost two feet, the screen shows lines and overlapping images and print. It is not usable. Can this be repaired?: if so, where, (because I am not a tech) or should I scrap it and buy new?

yes - the kindle could be repaired. but it's not worth it!

replacing the display costs 228$ + shipping (CLICK).

a new kindle 2 costs 259$ shipping included

i don't know how much you will get for the broken kindle 2 - the broken kindle 1 are around 15-30$

so selling the old one and getting a new one is better then getting the other one repaired (a new one comes with the full warranty)

I agree with you and came to the same conclusion. And while I considered the extended contract which would cover a second year, and include ONE replacement due to falling, it won't cover me while traveling out of the country. Thinking of a kevlar case with memory foam instead. LOL. thanks for your input.

Nope, only "permalink and history" listed. Suggestions?

AS I said, there is only "Permalink, and History", not the rest. But then everything popped up, and I don't know what I did for that to happen. This is taking too much effort now that it's resolved.
