I also have a 2009 Forest with a mirror that's been out of order for over a year. Is there a fix for this other than replacing it? like a fuse or some button I'm not aware of?
Sorry Netbiz1 I have no answer for your question but I too have that same problem, I was told at the dealership while having a recall issue fixed that it would have to be replaced for 300. That's ridicules. I was also told I needed front and back brake work also my drive belt had a crack in it. They just happened to feel the need to check my brakes without my asking. Wonder why.
Same day I took it to merchants auto and it only needed front brake work at less than half the cost that the dealership would charge also there was nothing wrong with my drive belt. My husband used to work at a Subaru dealership and that's how they do business by Telling customers they need something that they don't. Nice!
So that leaves me wondering if our rear view mirrors really have to be replaced or is it something so simple to fix.
So many recalls on everything else and of course my warranty is up. go figure.

Same here, mine stopped working two years ago, no dimming adjustment and no compass it is a 2009 Forester. also recently my drivers seat collapsed, near the door. I called Subaru of America, went to the dealership and they are putting in a NEW SEAT FOR FREE. Apparently this is very common. Should be a recall. We already had to have both my husbands brakes in his 2008 outback replaced and also mine. We went to merchants to do this and they said the braked needed to be replaced because either the drum or rotter was so thin it warped. What is up with these Subaru s? just lately my Nav got stuck at tilt position and was heating up to very hot. I had to full the fuse, now I have no radio, no Nav no cd player, no clock, no outside temp and no miles per gallon showing. I have 45.000 miles and I don't think I will ever purchase another Subaru!

2011Subaru Outback: rear view mirror is dim and blurry especially at night. Very distracting and makes it hard to see what is behind you!
