Water proofing ability of phone after repair

Does refitting the panel with this method remove the water-proof seal of the phone? As in, when i open the phone with your suggested method and refix the back glass plate by heating it, will my phone still be water proof?

From what I understand your phone was sold as being Water Resistant not Water Proof.

While these are very similar terms they are different enough when it comes in the construction of the phone. A water proof device would require gaskets and a sealer preventing water to enter at a depth of immersion where as a water resistant device would only need to make the openings as small as possible so water would not have entry without immersion.

Lifting the glass off and then reseating it using the original glue will not be as water tight as it was when it was made. You will likely not be able to achieve the same level of sealing as it was new even if did clean and apply new glue.

The phone has ip57 certification which means it was waterproof with ability to keep the phone undamaged upto depths of 1 metre in soft water. I am going to purchase a new glass plate with glue and use it to fix the phone. what i wanted to know if there is a way to get the phone sealed back the way it was.

I hate it when they use the same model name when they sell two different versions with such an important feature difference. Happy you have the better one. I had one, it slipped into the sink while I was washing and the force of the water on it killed it. I had though I had the Water Proof version Sony said sorry you only have the Water Resistant model.
