Inserted DVD-R/CD-R, Would not read, ejects out?

as described, it just started yesterday...Wonder what the problem is? I am running Leopard v10.5.8. Seems to work fine otherwise. Do I need a new Superdrive??

Does the drive accept any cd's or dvd's? If not I would try cleaning the drive with a cleaning cd--you can find them a Radio Shack or stores where computers are sold. If cleaning doesn't work you probably do need a new drive. Ralph

First follow rj713's advice, you ought to check different types of both CDs and DVDs, different brands, and r vs rw, if none work, try an optical driving cleaning disk, you can get them most places, but you can also get them online. You can also try cleaning by blasting compressed air in there with a can.

If all these fail, get a new SuperDrive here.

Thanks for your replies:

I know that only CD-Rs/DVD-Rs discs work. I did do the air can blasting...nothing. Maybe I do need a New Superdrive. Yet, I was shopping around for a new MacBook anyways...:0
