What is the battery model number?

Did you find out what model battery the 4th gen Aiport Extreme uses? Would be helpful to list as part of the required tools/parts.

The battery is only for the memory/BIOS settings for the device.

The unit runs on a 12vdc adapter. Check the output of your adapter with a meter and verify the voltage marked on it.

There is probably a SMT fuse on the board near the plug. It should be labeled "F1" unless there is more than one fuse. You could check to see if that is blown and replace it if you have a solder iron. Set the meter to OHMS and touch a probe to either side of the device. A good fuse will show 0 ohms.
