Did touch screen get broken?

I just broke my iPad mini screen due to accidental drop and the screen is broken from all sides. Also, the left half of the screen touch is not responding. How can I know if the touch screen get damaged or not? Also, which screen should I buy for it?

The glass of the ipad and the touch are the same thing. If you broke the ipad bad enough it could stop picking up the touch. By replacing the screen (digitizer) it will fix this problem. As for buying the digitizer, get the one that has the connection already soldered to the digi. It's a nightmare for someone who hasn't soldered to try to solder this.
