The Top Power Button broken

I've had this iPod for awhile and suddenly the top button just stopped working. I cannot turn it on and the button doesn't click. Its not stuck, but it just won't turn the device on. If I plug it into my computer, the device fires up, but the top button is not functional anymore. Is there a way to fix this? I fear I may have been too rough with the button and pushed the sensor loose so it does not make contact.
