Do you have adapter for lif drives (the newer style)

I'm looking to recover some data from a failing drive from a MBA.

I work in data recovery, and would like to adapt this to our standard ide/eide or SATA equipment. The drive in question is a Samsung HS12UHE/A 1.8"

It is not the former standard 20mm ribbon cable interface, but instead is about 12mm from pin-pin. It seems this is a 'LIF (sata)' port instead of what is usually called 'ZIF (pata) ribbon', though there are a ton of places interchanging the names so it's hard to get an exact name. I think I've found the right adapter to go to USB in a 1.8" LIF enclosure, but I'd really like an adapter that adapts to standard IDE or SATA. Any suggestions?

Do you have a link for the device that goes from LIF to USB?

After endless searching I found these solutions for connecting a samsung HS12UHE via usb

http://cgi.ebay.com/1-8-usb-external-HDD...

and this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B...

either should do the trick.

alex, great answer and good research. Hope that Thomas found a solution to his problem within the last year. Don't spend to much time searching for an answer, if the original owner of this question did not respond to anything for a year. There are plenty of people out there that could use our assistance right now.

To bad you didn't ask the question, thus being able to accept an answer and giving credit for his research

All I could do was up-vote his answer. He spent a lot of time on researching it as well

The runcore usb adapter works to adapt to usb (though it looks 'home-built' inside).... but I'm glad it works.

The ribbon cable that comes with it is near impossible to figure out which direction to plug in, but don't worry about it. If you plug it in upside down, it won't fry anything.

I still haven't found (or made) an adapter to go direct to ide or sata though.
