I have a floor module metal fan...And it make the awfully loud sound...In the beginning it would stop if I put WD40 on it...Now ain't nothing I can do...I love this fan...It's like the rod that attachment to motor that blades attach to is sliding back and forth...Like it's causing blade to strike something...I guess I'm explaining this right? Please help

My ceiling fan only makes clicking noise when it spins clockwise. When I set it to spin counter clockwise, no sound. What is wrong with that?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

crwdns2934285:0crwdne2934285:0
crwdns2934057:0crwdne2934057:0

Clean the dust of the blades. When dust build up on top the blades gets thick, it can throw off the balance. This makes something rub when it gets spinning fast. You may also notice a slight wobble when the fan is running. I know this can happen. This happened to me. It only made noise on high speed. After cleaning the blades, the wobble and ticking noise stopped.

Sometimes the plate the blades mount on can come loose. You may need to remove all fan blades, level the mounting plate (usually one set screw tightens against a rotating shaft). Turn the fan on w/o blades to see if the plate wobbles and then replace blades.

Try greasing the bearings it works if it is a ball bearing, but if sleave bearing oil it you may want to put some oil on the motor ball if it is really bad

crwdns2934285:0crwdne2934285:0

You need to disassemble unit clean the front and back bushings and lubricate with household oil. Remove fan shroud, blades, and back plate. Remove oscillating pull button. Remove plug on back cover to access screw. Remove screws holding the cover. Remove cover. Remove oscillating mechanism. Remove back plate to access motor. (4 screws with nuts). Remove back motor plate. Clean back bushing and lubricate with household oil (not WD 40) Lubricate outside of motor. Drop oil on front bushing work back and forth. If still binds then remove T pin clean and lubricate front bushing. Re assemble and should work fine. My 1655 ran continuously for about a year before it started binding up. Takes about a half hour to fix but now it is smooth as butter again.

I am trying to build a replica of a vintiang fan put some wd40 in it and now it is grinding. I looked up what that stuff does and i was praying I didn't destroy the motor. It still works and does not overheat (thankfully I stopped adding the living !&&* before it could do much damage) so with the story said, do any of you know how i can increase winddown time without ruining my fan? Any suggestions greatly appreciated, skyler taunt

Also check the spindle on which the fan sits. It's adjustable with a set screw and if it sits too low the fan blades can touch the motor box below. Fixed the problem by raising the spindle just a fraction.

Usually I can spray some WD 40 in all the openings I can and it will stop making the noise...

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

DO NOT use wd40!!! It is just a liquid bomb waiting to explode!! It will eat and fry your motor sure it seems to work but only for a month until you relize sonething is wrong- it eats your motor winding thus frying the motor over time don't put gas on the fire just don't, its not worth it!!

I duct taped all 4 corners, front and back to tighten the shell encasing the fan. It stopped making the constant rattling sound. Temporary fix but at least It's not driving me mad anymore.

the grinding noise, happened to me a week ago, i think it should be cleaned up from dust, tight the blades if they are even a micrometer loose. then drop a tear of machine oil at the rotor. do not use WD40. you need a lube, not a loosening liquid.
